It was after seven pm on a Friday and despite the fact that we were assured a dry and fresh day, it hadn't stopped raining! Dan and I were seated commenting on the recent rugby rankings, waiting for the 6th fuel drain of the day to come in. AdBlue Contamination

Diesel and water really do not mix whatsoever and attempting to run a diesel car on water cannot work. In addition, the urea is particularly corrosive to the fuel system hoses and seals and is susceptible to crystallisation, damaging injectors and fuel filters.

In case you poured AdBlue into the fuel tank get it out at the earliest opportunity. And certainly take care not to turn over the engine - not even to shift it off the pump. In the instance that you did start the vehicle you would very likely need to have the entire fuel system purged and filters changed.

Water contaminated fuel
